Types of Markets

A subsidiary of SGX, SGX Securities Trading Ltd operates the following markets for the trading of securities products:

SGX Mainboard

A total of 501 Singapore and foreign companies were listed on the SGX Mainboard as at 31 December 2002 with a market capitalisation of S$291.27 billion.

SGX Sesdaq

This is the second board which provides an alternative avenue for small and medium-sized companies to raise funds for their business expansion. As at 31 December 2002, 116 companies were listed on SGX Sesdaq with a market capitalisation of S$3.05 billion.

SGX Xtranet

The SGX Xtranet is SGX’s newest trading board. It lists and trades structured products such as Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). The six ETFs, which are traded on SGX Xtranet are:

- SPDRs®
- DIAMONDS®
- iShares^SM S&P 500 Index Fund
- iShares^SM MSCI Singapore Index Fund
- iShares^SM Dow Jones US Technology Sector Index Fund
- streetTRACKS^SM Straits Times Index Fund

SGXLink

SGXLink is a multi-lateral cross border trading gateway that allows investors direct access to foreign markets. The first co-trading established under SGXLink is with the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX). This electronic link allows for the efficient trading and settlement of ASX and SGX securities by participants in both markets.

There are around 100 ASX securities that are traded via SGXLink. The selected list of ASX securities are generally major companies in leading industries. Click here for more information.

Bonds

In order to develop an active bond market in Singapore, SGX Securities Trading introduced an automatic order matching system for bond trading. The system, called the Bonds Quotation System (BQS), is based on the computerised Central Limit Order Book (CLOB) trading system.

CLOB International

CLOB International is an over-the-counter market which facilitates investors to trade in a number of international securities listed on foreign stock exchanges. As at 31 December 2002, 9 Hong Kong stocks and 9 other international stocks were quoted on CLOB International.
