STAR Pharmaceutical Limited and its subsidiary (the “Group”) are engaged in the manufacture and sale of TCM-formulated prescription drugs. Its market is primarily in the PRC and its sales are made through its distribution network of approximately 240 distributors to hospital, clinics and pharmaceutical. It also operates 20 liaison offices established in major cities and provinces in the PRC.
The Group manufactures and sells a wide range of drugs in administration and dosage forms. Brief descriptions of the main drugs that we currently manufacture and sell are as follows:-
· Antibiotics
Antibiotics are drugs used to treat bacterial infections. Currently, the Group manufactures seven antibiotics, all of which are available in a variety of administration forms and dosages. Our two main antibiotics which accounted for approximately 33.0% and 26.8% of our Group’s revenue in FY2004 and HY2005 respectively.
· Cardiovascular Drugs and Cerebrovascular Drugs
Cardiovascular drugs are drugs which alleviate problems associated with the heart and circulatory system while cerebrovascular drugs are used in the treatment of diseases where there is damage to the blood vessels in the brain.
· Other Drugs
Apart from the abovementioned two main categories of drugs, the Group has since 2001, in response to growing market demand, commenced the manufacture and sale of other drugs, primarily those relating to the treatment of tumours, diseases of the nervous system, anesthetics as well as antivirals.
